STORY

Based on the totalitarian regime in Bulgaria, specifically the year 1981. It was the 1300 anniversary of the nation and a very ambitious construction project was completed at that time. The regime coerced students and young adults into labor and required "donations" to complete it.

Codename Bat was the pseudonym given to a historical person when he was targeted for surveillance. The story is loosely based on that person. He became a target because he was the most vocal during a night gathering of a group of young people (probably where "bat" came from) who expressed resentment against the regime. His father was an outspoken opponent to the ruling party.
